I try to keep my base recipes as simple as possible. This way, you can always add or pair your meal with sides and other goodies!
This sauce is a must in the south. Its quick and delicious.
Here is my simple Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients: Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce
- 2 Bottles of Heinz No Salt Added Tomato Ketchup (230 mg for both bottles in total)
- 3 TBSP of apple cider vinegar (0mg)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (0mg)
- 4 TBSP honey (0mg)
- 3 TBSP Worcestershire (75mg)
- 2 TSP Liquid Smoke (0mg)
- 2 TBSP Garlic Powder (0mg)
- 3 TBSP Paprika (0mg)
- 2 TBSP Onion Powder (0mg)
- 1 TBSP Black Pepper (0mg)
- 2 TBSP Turmeric (0mg)

Recipe:
This is the easy part. Simply combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes on low stirring constantly.
Viola!
There you have it, a lower sodium version of a classic favorite! This recipe should come out to around 6 mg per 2 tablespoons! Thats so much better than what you would find in the stores!
