This recipe couldn’t be any simpler. Even those I know who don’t like cabbage love these cabbage steaks!
Here is my simpleLow Sodium Cabbage Steak
Ingredients: Low Sodium Cabbage Steak
- 1 large green cabbage (per 3 people) (0mg)
- Olive oil (0mg)
- 1 garlic clove or minced garlic (0mg)
- 1/2 cup of low sodium bacon (optional) (360 mg per half cup)
- Seasons for taste
Recipe:
Start by cooking your bacon. This is optional but I really enjoy the bit of salt taste you get from using it!
Once finished, remove bacon but do no discard your drippings! You can use these to pour over your steaks instead of olive oil!
While bacon is frying, you can go ahead and slice your cabbage. You want your steaks around an inch thick or so. You should be able to get at least 4 steaks out of each cabbage head.
Mince your garlic.
Lay them flat on a cookie sheet. Use bacon drippings or olive oil to coat the top of the steaks. Rub in your minced garlic . Next season to taste. I like to use black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and even a bit of herb ox no salt chicken bullion sometimes. I have even done lemon pepper and those were fantastic! The season choice is totally up to you. Get creative!
Pop these bad boys in the oven until they begin to brown on top.
Remove and add to your plate. Top with a small amount of your crumbled bacon for flavor!
Enjoy! Hit me up if you have great recipes to share!
